I am Gwakisa E. Kasambwike, a UI/UX and Graphic Designer from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, with over six years of professional experience. My journey into the world of design began in primary school, where my natural talent for drawing opened opportunities to contribute artwork for academic materials. These early experiences not only sparked my lifelong passion for creativity but also laid the foundation for my exploration of design as a transformative tool. Over the years, my interest evolved alongside an ever growing fascination with technology, leading me to experiment with design software during my youth. This curiosity fueled my desire for mastery, driving me to learn tools like Adobe Creative Suite and Blender through self directed learning, online tutorials, and engagement with global design communities.

Overview

Matandu Safaris competes in one of the most demanding corners of luxury travel. International guests compare destinations across continents long before they ever make contact, and first impressions are formed in seconds on a screen.

The brand needed a digital home that could stand with full confidence beside the finest names in global hospitality and command the prices its experiences truly deserve.

The Challenge

Most safari and hunting websites still feel dated. Crowded layouts, heavy navigation, inconsistent typography and weak performance on mobile leave premium operators looking like anything but.

Matandu wanted the opposite. A platform that stayed true to its roots in the African bush while speaking fluently and beautifully to a global market.

Creative Direction

The direction drew from luxury hospitality, editorial design and cinematic wildlife photography, all grounded in the warm earthy textures of the savanna.

Rather than leaning on aggressive imagery, the experience leads with atmosphere, narrative and a deep sense of place. Every screen was built to feel calm, confident and quietly expensive.
